Inessa Rose ReVamped

A long, long time ago, I wanted to play with fire. I made a Dunmer Sorc, and armed her with an Inferno Staff. Inessa turned out pretty OK; I really enjoyed playing with her, but something was missing.

The element of undeath.

As I do play ESO to fully immerse in the darker side of the world, I turned Inessa into a Vampire, and set out to make her incredible. My plans didn't work out quite as I'd expected, but after many trips around a Dungeon, a lot of swearing, and quite a bit of testing, Inessa turned out... mediocre. I've made a video about her build, and in this post, I wanted to share ability morphs and such in a clearer fashion.

Skills

Inessa's build still requires a lot of work. You'll need to push Resto Staff, Destro Staff, Light Armor, Psijic Guild, Mages Guild, Dark Elf, and Vampire Skill Lines to max level. To top that off, you'll need to head out to two Group Dungeons to fetch her gear. Let's start with a look into her abilities first.

Set One - Restoration Staff

Critical Surge (this keeps Inessa alive, so make certain it remains active at all times)
Ward Ally (if you'd like to go with two Destro Staffs, swap this with Annulment from Light Armor)
Degeneration (Structured Entropy would work better, and this can be swapped with Mesmerize)

Ultimate
Swarming Scion (or your favourite)

Set Two - Inferno Staff

Elemental Weapon (cast before using a light attack, make certain to have this slotted)

Ultimate

Passives

Inessa's build relies heavily on Damage Shields. Ward Ally and Concentrated Barrier both trigger her Monster Set buff. Purchase all passives from Skill Lines listed above to make the most out of Inessa's skills.

Gear

Inessa wears three armor sets. For her first set, I chose Law of Julianos, which is a craftable set from Wrothgar. It adds to Critical Chance, Weapon and Spell Damage, and Maximum Magicka. As Law of Julianos is one of the more popular sets in ESO, you can purchase it from Guild Vendors even if you don't own the Orsinium DLC. I have this one covering both Weapons and all Jewelry slots.

For Inessa's second five piece set, I chose Spider Cultist Cowl. This one drops from Fungal Grotto, a Group Dungeon in Stonefalls. Spider Cultist adds to Critical Chance, Maximum Magicka, and Weapon and Spell Damage. With all five pieces equipped, an additional amount of Weapon and Spell Damage is added to Destruction Staff Abilities. As most of Inessa's spammables come from Destro Staff, this set works pretty good for her.

For Inessa's Monster Set, I chose to stick with Infernal Guardian. The helm drops when you slay the final Boss in City of Ash I in Veteran mode. Shoulders can be purchased from Undaunted Vendors. Infernal Guardian adds to Maximum Magicka. As you apply a Damage Shield on yourself or an ally, you have a chance to lob three mortars toward the enemy furthest away. The mortars deal a set amount of Flame Damage to all enemies within the blast area.

Though Inessa is still fun to play with, I do feel she worked better before I turned her into a Vampire. There was a delicate balance about her then. That balance was sacrificed before the Dark Gift. As Inessa said her goodbyes to life, she turned chaotic, unpredictable.
Unstable, even.
She isn't a very good damage dealer, nor is she that efficient, but she is entertaining if you're looking for immersion. I do hope you'll like her, at least a little bit.

Until next time.
Love,
Heather
