As Elsweyr first dropped a year ago, I created a Necromancer character. I named her Ethérna Rose, and had a lot of fun with her. Still, I felt she was missing something. A small piece to complete her. At the time, I didn't know what Elder Scrolls Online had in store for me. I went ahead and turned her into a vampire without a clue of what was to come.
And then Greymoor dropped, and suddenly, my Necro-Vamp was complete. At this point, I'd like to remind you that all of my builds are designed for casual solo-play only. Don't try to do trials or PvP with any of my BadAss Bitches.
Ethérna Rose is a damage dealing Necromancer Vampire. Her build includes both self-healing and damage dealing abilities, so she's able to hold her own even under extreme circumstances. Ethérna wears Hlaalu robes and dons the Brassy Asssassin Personality (sadly, this personality has been discontinued). A Long-Winged Bat keeps her company while she goes in search of innocent NPCs to drain of blood.
Skills
From the first day I played ESO, I knew I wanted to play solo. I'm not good with other people. As I like to keep Ethérna on vampire stage 4, I need self-healing abilities to stay alive. A stage 4 vampire's health no longer regenerates, so you either need a healer-BF, or healing skills.
Ethérna has two lightning staffs, both of which have unique skills equipped. With this build, I wanted to have as many damage dealing skills as possible close at hand. This solution makes Ethérna fast, deadly, and nearly indestructible.
Set One - Lightning Staff
Blood Sacrifice
Exhilarating Drain
Arterial Burst
Hypnosis
Avid Boneyard
Ultimate Ability - Vampire
Swarming Scion
Set Two - Lightning Staff
Ricochet Skull
Unstable Wall of Elements
Force Pulse
Skeletal Arcanist
Avid Boneyard
Ultimate Ability - Necromancer
Pestilent Colossus
Gear
Choosing gear is never easy. I like to pick out one craftable set, one overland set, and one monster set. Ethérna's first set covers five slots; chest, waist, hands, legs, and feet. The Law of Julianos Set is craftable in Orsinium only. It grants bonuses in spell damage, maximum magicka, and spell critical. For a magicka build, this is one of the recommended sets. This set shines on many areas, but personality is not among its perks.
For my other set, I went with The Mad Tinkerer Set. This is an overland set, which means that you can find pieces for it by killing bosses, and by looting chests. You can also get pieces of it by completing daily quests. This set drops in the Clockwork City only. The Mad Tinkerer also grants bonuses to spell critical and spell damage. It covers five slots, neck, both rings, and staff twice. This set is also quite useful for a mage, and it comes with a Fun Feature. When you deal damage, you have a 10% chance of summoning a Venomous Fabricant, which rushes toward the nearest enemy, dealing damage to all in its way.
Two full sets, when placed correctly, leave shoulders and helmet free. These slots should be used for a monster set. You can get those be completing Veteran Dungeons, and Undaunted daily quests. Helms drop from dungeons, and pauldrons can be purchased from Undaunted vendors. Ethérna has the Nerien'eth's Set. The helm drops when you slay the last boss in Veteran Crypt of Hearts II. When you have both pieces equipped, you have a 15% chance of summoning a Lich Crystal, which explodes after 2 seconds, dealing damage to all those nearby.
When choosing gear, you should make certain to have both weapon sets from the same set. This way, your set won't break when you switch between weapons.
I've made a video about Ethérna's build, which you can check out here. I've also taken Ethérna out for a spin to show you what she can do. To demonstrate her build in action, I cleared out City of Ash I in normal difficult. Alone. Check out that video here.
I hope you had fun reading about Ethérna's build.
Until next time.
Love,
Heather
